HIA is supporting the reconstruction of a seriously damaged high school in Croatia
HIA’s colleague travelled to the location of the earthquake in Croatia a week ago to join the assessment of the damages and plan the long-term humanitarian assistance of the organization. Under difficult circumstances as the quakes countinued, several social institutions, kindergardens, schools and a nursery home were assessed in the epicentre of the quake, Petrinja and in the neighbouring towns.
According to the local coordinating bodies and the results of HIA’s assessement the NGO is supporting the reconstruction of a high school in Glina. 197 students goes to this school but they cannot continue their studies now, since the building got seriously damaged in the earthquake. The glasses got broken, walls got cracked and most of the school equipments and furniture got ruined. Although the damages are serious the building can be rebuilt – thanks to the donors’ cooperation HIA can take a big part in this process because more than 12 million HUF donation has arrived so far, to support the case.
