Opening an HIA office in Erbil
With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in June 2016 the Aid Organization opened its local office in Erbil, which aims to support refugees through the implementation of humanitarian and development programmes. In collaboration with ACT Alliance, we donated durable food, hygiene and medical products, and provided psycho-social assistance to refugees.
The purpose of our presence in the field is to provide long-term support to those fleeing the war, especially to Christians and families which belong to other minorities.
Near the village of Shkafte, the Hungarian Interchurch Aid and CAPNI co-organized an aid distribution in which 50 Yezidi families received enough durable food and hygiene items for several months.
On the territory of the Sulaymaniyah Governorate, we provided heating oil to 500 internally displaced families and donated fuel cans worth USD 5,000 to ensure heating in winter in their temporary accommodation.
In addition, in cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), the staff of the aid organization organized distribution of humanitarian aid at several locations, including for 600 families in Sheikan who received food packages sufficient for one month and for 700 families in Dawdiya camp receiving packages containing hygiene items.
