Humanitarian and livelihood assistance for disadvantaged groups in Southern Ethiopia
The complex development programme, launched in 2022, aims to implement education, agriculture and livelihood projects in the West Guji, Konso and Afar regions of Ethiopia, as well as emergency humanitarian aid in the civil war-ravaged Tigray region.
Programme components: diversifying the income of the targeted communities (both women and men) by creating new business opportunities. Increasing food security of targeted households through crop and vegetable production. Provision of school supplies and equipment to local schools to ensure quality education is available. Access to WASH facilities (protected water sources), while at the same time promoting hygiene education and awareness programmes to prevent diseases caused by poor water quality. In order to improve the health system and general well-being, the NGO will also raise awareness of social well-being and health issues in general (e.g. the negative effects of drug use) through training for staff of the Sidhafage Health Centre and community programmes and sports events for local youth. In order to increase capacity and improve the efficiency of care, the health centre has received various equipment and equipment. In addition, the project included infrastructure development and improvements in hygiene and water supply.
