Provision of Humanitarian and Livelihood Assistance in Ethiopia for Refugees, IDPs and Host Communities

This project aims to strengthen resilience and improve living conditions for vulnerable communities in Bule Hora and Kercha districts of West Guji Zone, Ethiopia, where recurrent drought, conflict, displacement, flooding, disease outbreaks, and food insecurity have severely affected livelihoods. Building on local partnerships and community structures, the intervention will integrate WASH, food security, and livelihood support while promoting gender equality, peacebuilding, and climate-smart approaches. Key activities include developing and rehabilitating community water systems, sanitation facilities, hygiene awareness, and menstrual hygiene support for schoolgirls; providing farmers with seeds, training, and fruit seedlings to improve agricultural productivity and household nutrition; and creating income-generating opportunities for women and youth through group enterprises, skills training, irrigation, livestock, poultry, and small business support. By combining immediate assistance with sustainable development solutions, the project seeks to reduce vulnerability, restore dignity, and enable communities to build safer and more self-reliant futures.
