Strenghtening resilience in dealing with crises and conflict in Ninewa
The city and region of Sinjar in the governorate of Ninewa, Iraq, has suffered perhaps the worst damage in the entire country under the rule of the Islamic State. In addition to persecuting the religious minorities that make up the majority of the city’s population, the fanatical organisation has also destroyed 80% of the public infrastructure. In order to improve the living conditions of returnees and the already growing population, HIA has launched a development project with the following elements:
- Construction of two marketplaces
- Construction of a community centre
- Rehabilitation of a sports centre
