On 17 February, Hungarian Interchurch Aid held a workshop at the Permanent Representation of Hungary to the European Union, where our colleagues presented HIA’s humanitarian work in Ukraine over the past four years, since the full-scale invasion, and shared our experience supporting the reintegration of veterans. During the event, the growing need to address veterans’ physical, psychological, and social challenges as they return to civilian life were highlighted. We stressed that targeted support is essential not only from a humanitarian perspective but also for long-term recovery, as it helps strengthen social cohesion and community resilience. The workshop also provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with policy makers and practitioners and to promote dialogue on veteran-focused responses.
