For an international request, since 2014 HIA has been present in several locations and takes part in the provision of care for internally displaced persons and those living in areas affected by fights. During 2015, as a member organization of the Geneva-based ACT Alliance, we implemented a humanitarian programme in two projects in Ukraine (UKR151 and UKR152). The aid programmes covered all areas of Ukraine where a significant number of internally displaced persons live; in addition, those who lived in the conflict zone were also beneficiaries of the programmes. Thus, those in need received various support in 10 regions of Ukraine (Transcarpathia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Kherson, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia). In order to successfully implement the programmes, in addition to our office in Berehove, we also opened a programme office in Dnipropetrovsk and in Kyiv. We have also set up a partner network of Ukrainian NGOs to implement the activities.

In 2015, we provided support to more than 20,000 direct beneficiaries (mainly internally displaced persons and large families living in conflict areas, single elderly people, unemployed people and people with disabilities). In addition to distributing unit packages containing food, hygiene and household items, we have renovated community accommodation units, delivered hundreds of tons of fuel, and provided psychosocial assistance to those who lived through the traumas of war.
