Solidarity and fundraising: tornado hit Czech Republic
On 24th June 2021 a tornado hit towns located on the border of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it caused unprecedented damages and took human life. The F4 tornado devastated the most parts of Hodonin and Hrusky among many other neighbouring towns: houndreds of houses are smashed, several churches are destroyed, a nursing home is seriously damaged and more than 150 people got injured.
Hungarian Interchurch Aid has immediately contacted its local partner organization, the Diaconia ECCB – Center of Relief and Development and offered its help. Parallelly with the rescue work the Diaconia has started the assessment of the damages and keeps updating HIA Hungary.
