Floods in Eastern Transylvania
Solidarity campaign to help residents of flood-affected communities in Eastern Transylvania
At the end of May, heavy rainfall in Romania’s Covasna and Harghita counties caused streams and rivers throughout to flood, causing enormous damage. In Praid, the Korond creek flooded the salt mine, threatening the livelihoods of families in the surrounding villages. In Covasna county, close to 400 people had to be evacuated from several villages in the catchment area of the Feketeügy, Tatrang and Covasna streams.
We are calling for a nationwide effort to help the communities severely affected by the disaster, so that we can stand by the families in need with the power of social solidarity, helping to mitigate the damage and restore the area as soon as possible.
