The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East is creating a growing humanitarian crisis in the region. More than a million people have already been displaced by the ongoing hostilities. The situation is further exacerbated by the destruction of critical infrastructure spreading northwards from southern Lebanon. Following reports from our local partners, the situation necessitates a rapid response to provide for the needs and demands of the people displaced by the conflict.

Hungarian Interchurch Aid is involved in the humanitarian coordination through its regional office in Erbil, and monitors events and emerging needs in cooperation with its partner organisations. Initial assessments show that the main needs at the moment are food, drinking water, blankets, hygiene items, cleaning materials and fuel.
In response to the unfolding humanitarian crisis following the intensification of armed conflict in the Middle East, Hungarian Interchurch Aid is launching a solidarity action as well as a fundraising campaign to provide effective and targeted assistance. To this end, we are in close contact with local Christian communities.
