Our Afghan office responds to earthquake in Nangarhar, Eastern Afghanistan
Aid efforts supported by HUF 3 million donation from Hungary Helps
On Tuesday, strong aftershocks were recorded in eastern Afghanistan, with tectonic activity once again being felt most strongly in the mountainous provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, which were affected by Sunday’s earthquake. Based on assessments, there is a pressing need for emergency food and hygiene products in addition to temporary accommodation. HIA humanitarians from the Kabul office have therefore begun preparations to deliver aid in the catastrophe-struck region. The Government of Hungary is supporting the aid efforts to help survivors losing their homes and loved ones with HUF 3 million through the Hungary Helps Programme.

As part of the humanitarian response, more than 600 earthquake survivors will receive a month’s worth of emergency, non-perishable food . In coordination with the Afghan disaster management authorities, our staff in Kabul will be helping those in need in the Dara-i-Nur district of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan.
