In 2018, the aid organization also participated in the implementation of a large-scale aid programme of Act Alliance in cooperation with 11 other international and local organizations, providing clean water to the most deprived areas near Mosul and helping to restore agriculture.
As part of humanitarian project ACT IRQ181, the following activities were carried out in the war-torn city of Mosul:
– Reconstruction and cleaning of 8 communal 16 m3 landfill islands;
– hygiene promotion activities and provision of information, distribution of waste bags for more than 6000 families;
– distribution of 5,000 colouring booklets for students to disseminate hygiene related knowledge;
Prior to the listed activities, we organized six focus group discussions on waste management in the 6 districts of Mosul with the involvement of local government representatives in order to provide comprehensive information and assistance on local issues.
In addition, we had the opportunity to support 190 men and 10 women farming in the area in Sinjar region and Solakh region, using the Cash for Work method. The farmers participating in the project could only use the aid for the next sowing period, for the purchase of seeds needed to cultivate their land.
During humanitarian project ACT IRQ181, the aid organization reached a total of 186,200 people.
